Top 30 Shooters in The First Half of The Year 2021

In the first half of 2021, we see quite a lot of commotion in the downloads for the top 30 shooter games. With the first six positions that stayed put set aside, almost all the titles changed their positions compared to the top of the second half of 2020. As top leaders, there are Garena Free Fire, PUBG Mobile 1.5, FPS Commando Secret Mission, Brawl Stars, and Call of Duty all keeping their positions but dropping the number of downloads by 17M, 10M, 7M, 10M and 7M respectively. The only game of the top six that has not only retained its chart position but also managed to actually increase its downloads figures by an extra 4M is the Sniper 3D.

Moving to the more noticeable changes, we would like to draw your attention to the fast and glorious rise of FPS Offline Strike which blasted off by 35 positions and came in 8th, increasing its downloads by a neat 17M.

Since it’s the game’s debut in the top 30 chart, you may not have heard of it. So let’s get you a bit of context here. FPS Offline Strike is a very basic offline FPS (don’t even need to read between the lines here, eh!) with rather clueless mobs and hilarious SFX:

It’s mostly popular in India, Indonesia, Brazil and other developing countries. Among the likely reasons behind its popularity are the zero requirements for internet quality and the very low requirements for hardware and player skills. We’ve witnessed phenomenal growth of similar kind earlier in 2020 and 2019 happening to other offline shooters. Must be said, most of these games lose their momentum quite fast. So it is hardly surprising that FPS Offline Strike is now generating 85% less downloads than it used to in February 2021, when it hit a 14M mark.

Three other games that showed extreme growth were DEAD TARGET (12 lines up with 5M new downloads); Wild Dinosaur Hunting Games (14 lines up with 5M new downloads); and Modern Ops (14 lines up with 4M new downloads). Another very impressive rise takes us to Deer Hunting Covert Sniper Hunter: it climbed 25 positions up, increasing its downloads by almost 12M.

As for the games that lost their positions somewhat, there are 10 of them overall, with three plummeting drastically: Johnny Trigger (12 lines down and a 8M decline in downloads); World of Tanks Blitz PVP (13 lines down and a 5M decline in downloads); and Modern Strike (13 lines down and a 7M decline in downloads). Other seven titles lost from 1 to 7 positions and experienced falls in their downloads in the range of 1M (Hide Online and World War Heros) to 19M (Cover Strike).

As expected, the top 30 shooters by revenue come across as slightly less dramatic than the downloads top. Major changes in position were displayed by 使命召唤手游 (Call of Duty Mobile Game, published by Tencent in China) going up by 9 lines and receiving 48M more in revenue compared to the second half of 2020. Another very successful game is Hunting Clash: Hunter Games with its revenue increase of 5M over the 1.8M earned in 2020, which brought it 17 lines up in the chart and had it land at position 21. Two other games that boomed in 2021 are Hunting Clash: Hunter World which jumped up 18 positions and gained an almost extra 4M in revenue—and Final Tank that climbed up 8 lines and grew its revenue by 1M.

As for the games that were not that lucky in 2021, Archero (which is kind of a Top-Down Shooter) lost 36% (or 9M) of its revenue, going down 3 positions. The same thing happened to an Asian title of アリス・ギア・アイギス (Alice Gear Aegis by COLOPL), whose revenue declined by 4M (or the same 36%), too. Another big shift in the top is the demise of Sniper Arena with 5 positions down and a loss of 1.2M (or 21%) of revenue. Similarly, Sniper Strike lost 3 positions and experienced a fall in revenue of 20%, or 0.8M.
